THE PRESIDENT SPEAKS…..
Dear Members,
At the outset, I would like to say that it is indeed feeling of great honour & deep privilege to be elected as the First Woman President in the 71 year History of this Esteemed organisation- Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mangalore. The new team of KCCI has come into being on 28 July 2011 at the 70th AGM, with the kind support of all the members of the chamber & I take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to one & all.
Our chamber has always been a very proactive chamber & has played a pivotal role in all the developmental activities of the district. Similarly, our plan of action will be a two-pronged strategy.
- To address the grievances of the members with the relevant bodies effectively by conducting interactive meetings with resource persons from the concerned departments, make the necessary recommendations from the well-equipped chamber office with the follow through action until the result is obtained.
- To increase the membership base of the chamber from the current strength of 1300 members. According to the data available, there are currently about 25,000 business establishments in our district. It is imperative that we from KCCI impress upon the non members, the benefits of the membership of organisations such as these which render selfless service for the business fraternity & contribute hugely to the society.
The role of the chamber is to facilitate meetings, to reflect on the glorious past and make the necessary choices & changes in sync with the current situations. We have the opportunity to deliver the required goods by listening to our sources of wisdom & collectively make an effort to make a difference! In this process, it is important that we are able to think unitedly, form a consensus & work as a team! This will be a reality only if I am able to delegate these matters effectively to the experts in the team & get the work done!
We propose to have an MSME meet in the next two months on a large scale and also a Business Summit in November in association with FKCCI, Bangalore with an intention to boost the industries in the coastal region.
With the support & coordination of all the directors of the newly elected Board of KCCI & all the esteemed members of this apex Body, we hope to conduct result oriented meaningful programmes. I look forward towards a fruitful tenure.
Warm Regards,
Latha R. Kini
President
