Introduction to Chamber

Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mangaluru (KCCI) is a District level Chamber engaged in promoting Trade, Commerce, Industry and the general welfare of the people in the erstwhile Dakshina Kannada District for the past 8 decades. It was established on the 20th of December 1940 [Under section 26 of Indian Companies Act 1913; Currently under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013).

Membership of Chamber is open to

Merchants, Bankers, Ship-owners, Representatives of Commercial, Railway and Insurance Companies, Brokers and Persons engaged in Commerce, Agriculture, Mining or Manufacture and Persons engaged in or connected with Art, Science, Literature or Law shall be eligible for Membership. Provided such persons or individuals do generally reside in the geographical area comprising of the District of Dakshina Kannada before its bifurcation in the year 1997 and, in the case of firm, association, company or corporation, it has a place of business or a branch office within the limits of the said area.

Classes & Categories of Membership

There are three classes and five categories of Membership:
1.) Life Member
2.) Ordinary Member – i.e. Yearly renewable in the month of April and
3.) Honorary Members

Categories:
(i) Individuals/ Proprietors/ Professionals
(ii) Partnership firms
(iii) Co-operative Societies
(iv) Associations
(v) Companies (Private and Public Limited) functioning within the geographical jurisdiction of undivided i.e. erstwhile Dakshina Kannada District are eligible to enrol as Members of our Chamber.

Our Chamber is affiliated to the following apex bodies:
1. Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, New Delhi
2. Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Bangalore
3. Confederation of Indian Industry (Southern Region), Bangalore
4. Bangalore Chamber of Industry & Commerce, Bangalore and
5. Indian Merchants’ Chamber, Mumbai

Journal

KCCI is publishing a Monthly “Journal of KCCI” since 1971. The activities of the Chamber are highlighted in this Journal along with the publications of various Laws, Notifications and Clarifications. Statistical information is also provided for the benefit of the general public. The Journal has grown to a commanding position in circulation and readership. It has proved immensely popular with our members and others alike, even reaching foreign countries like Dubai & U.K.

Training & Awareness Program

KCCI organises Meetings, Seminars, Workshops on the latest topics of interests like GST, Customs, Labour Laws, MSMEs, Startups, Venture Capital, Banking & Insurance etc from time to time.

Representations

KCCI takes up issues and concerns of Industry and Trade bodies to be highlighted with top government officials.

Availability of Conference Room / Meeting Hall for Member’s Programmes

a. Chamber has one AC Conference Room with 50 seating Capacity fully equipped with all facilities and
b. One AC Meeting Hall with seating capacity to accommodate about 200 people fully equipped with all facilities for conducting Meetings/Seminars/Workshops/Conferences/Press Meets etc
Note: KCCI regularly conducts VIP Meetings, Seminars, Workshops etc. Members may avail the opportunity to attend these programmes. They can also have their own programmes – Seminars, Workshops, Interactive Meetings, Product presentations, Training programmes, etc at KCCI bearing reasonable utilisation charges.

Exam Center

KCCI is a recognised Training and Exams Centre for the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London.
Members may avail this facility for themselves or recommend others for undergoing internationally recognised training on Marine Trade.

Services

KCCI is enjoying the Government of India, Ministry of Commerce delegated Powers to issue Country of Origin Certificates, Certificates of Quality, Weights and Measurements for Export Commodities. Also Recommendation letters for grant of VISAs, attestation of Documents, etc.

Members may avail these facilities/services at reasonable charges. Non-members at double the Member rate. Membership certificates are issued to all Members for displaying at their office premises and Photo Identity Cards to Life members and optionally to ordinary members at cost are issued for their identification.
