One-Day Seminar on Understanding the Labour Codes and Their Implications Held in Mangaluru

Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM) , Mangalore Chapter jointly organized a One Day Seminar on Understanding the Labour Codes & its Implications –  Practical Insights to transition from the old labour laws to the new labour codes on 23rd December, 2025 at The Hotel Ocean Pearl, Mangaluru.

The event was inaugurated by Captain Brijesh Chowta, Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada Dist., in the presence of Shri P.B. Ahmed Mudassar, President – KCCI, Shri Prabhoda K S, Chairman- NIPM – Mangalore Chapter, and the speakers for the event – Shri S.K. Gupta, Solicitor & Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Delhi and Shri Govindaraju N.S., Author, Labour Law & Industry Expert. 

Shri P.B. Ahmed Mudassar in his address highlighted the enthusiasm witnessed among the business and industry community during the rollout of GST is now clearly evident in the response to the newly introduced Labour Codes. This marks a watershed moment in India’s reform process, with significant implications for industry, employment, and economic growth.

Shri S.K. Gupta in his address on the topic on Social Security Code and the code on Wages mentioned eight core principles for effective restructuring of wages. Shri Govindaraju N.S in his address to the members dealt on occupational safety, health and working condition code and industrial relations code. was also present on stage.

The event witnessed overwhelming response across various industries and professionals including manufacturing, service sector, advocates, Chartered Accountants, labour law consultants.

KCCI Organizes Awareness Session on GST Reforms 2.0 and GSTR-9 Changes

KCCI organized an Awareness Session on GST Reforms 2.0 – Changes in GSTR-9 Filing and Other Recent Changes in GST at KCCI Meeting Hall, Mangaluru. Shri P.B. Ahmed Mudassar, President – KCCI delivered the welcome address. The session commenced with an introductory address by CA Keshava N. Ballakuraya, Chairman, GST Sub-Committee, KCCI and Partner, M/s Ballakuraya & Associates. The first session was delivered by CA Sabana, Partner, M/s Ballakuraya & Associates, who explained the key recommendations of the 56th GST Council Meeting and the broad framework of GST Reforms 2.0. The second session was presented by CA Shraddha Sanghvi, Partner, M/s Ballakuraya & Associates, who focused on procedural and compliance-oriented reforms. CA Abdur Rahman Musba, Hon. Treasurer – KCCI was also present on stage. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Shri Ashwin Pai Maroor, Honorary Secretary, KCCI. Business owners, Accountants and staff from the educational institutions attended the event.

KCCI Organises Awareness Programme on Pradhan Mantri PMFME Scheme

KCCI organized an Awareness Session on Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme at KCCI Meeting Hall, Mangaluru. Shri P.B. Ahmed Mudassar, President – KCCI delivered the welcome address. Shri Divakar Pai Kochikar, Vice President – KCCI introduced the Chief Guest, Smt. Dhanalakshmi D.N., Assistant Director of Agriculture (HQ), O/o. Joint Director of Agriculture – D.K., Mangaluru and the resource person, Dr. A. A. Fazal, Food Scientist & Retired Professor, District Resource Person (DK Dist.)

Smt. Dhanalakshmi D.N., in her introductory remarks mentioned that the PMFME Scheme was introduced in 2020–21 in Dakshina Kannada District and a total of 444 applications were received, of which 440 applications were approved in the District level Committee and further recommended for loan sanction.

Dr. Fazal explained that PMFME is a credit-linked subsidy scheme offering 50% subsidy on the capital cost per unit, which includes technical civil work (up to 30% of the project cost).

He also briefed participants on other schemes; Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and National Livestock Mission (NLM)

The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Shri Ashwin Pai Maroor, Honorary Secretary, KCCI. Entrepreneurs and budding entrepreneurs participated in the event.

KCCI organized a seminar on the Awareness Program on Formation of Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in compliance with the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013. at the KCCI Meeting Hall, Bunder, Mangaluru. Shri P.B. Ahmed Mudassar, President, KCCI delivered the welcome address. Shri Shamlal Yermal, Chairman of Labour Sub-committee of KCCI also addressed the members on the relevance of the topic.

The seminar was addressed by Shri Kumar B.R, Labour Officer, Sub-Division 1, Mangaluru; Ms. Wilma Elizabeth Tauro, Labour Officer, Sub-Division 2, Mangaluru; and Shri Usman, Deputy Director, Women & Child Welfare Department, Mangaluru. Shri Divakar Pai Kochikar, Vice-President, KCCI rendered the vote of thanks. Business owners, HR professionals, staff members from educational institutions attended the event.

Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry in collaboration with CREDAI Mangalore and Section Infin-8 Foundation (SI-8) Organised an Industry Conclave on Carbon Credits & Green Finance 2025 – Driving Sustainability through Innovation and Collaboration on 25th October 2025 at KCCI Meeting Hall.

Chief Guest for the event was Shri R. Shanker, ESG & Sustainability Expert | Former EVP & Group Head – OHS / ESG, Jindal Steel & Power Consultant – Quality Council of India | Global Speaker on ESG, Sustainability & Business Excellence.

KCCI Hosts Interactive Session with Hon’ble Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao

Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare and District In-charge Minister for Dakshina Kannada, Government of Karnataka, held an interactive meeting with members of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Mangaluru, on 10th October 2025.

During the meeting, KCCI President Shri P.B. Ahmed Mudassar extended a warm welcome to the Minister and, in his address, highlighted key issues concerning local industries and the overall development of the city. A detailed memorandum outlining these concerns and suggestions for improvement was formally submitted to the Minister.

Also present on the dais were KCCI Vice-President, Shri Divakar Pai Kochikar and Hon. Secretaries Shri Ashwin Pai Maroor and Shri Jeethan Allen Sequeira. The event was attended by KCCI Directors, Past Presidents, Sub-committee Chairmen, office bearers of affiliated organizations, and several esteemed members of the Chamber.

The meeting focused on key industrial, infrastructural, and urban development priorities for the region. KCCI also presented its “Elevate Brand Mangaluru” initiative, aimed at promoting the city’s business identity and growth potential.
