13-09-2021 Memorandum was submitted to Shri Akshay Shridhar IAS, Commissioner, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) on Recommendations for Issuance of Trade Licence by KCCI Vice-President Shri Shashidhar Pai Maroor and KCCI Director and Hon. Secretary Shri Nissar Fakeer Mohammed.

KCCI Director and Chairman of Information Technology of Industrial Cell Sub-Committee of KCCI Shri Ashith Hegde addressed the Task Force of IT industry of the Govt. of India at Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Mangaluru. Shri Ashith Hegde also presented a report to the members present on – Advantage Mangaluru. Beyond Bengaluru = Mangaluru – A case for IT Infrastructure in Mangaluru. KCCI President Shri Isaac Vas was also present in the meeting.
3.30 p. m. The Commissioner of Central Excise & Central Tax, Mangaluru organized a webinar to Sensitize the trade & industry about Amnesty Scheme for revocation of cancelation of registration. KCCI Director and Hon. Secretary CA Abdur Rahman Musba attended the webinar.

On occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Exporters Conclave was organized by Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India and Govt. of Karnataka at The Ocean Pearl, Kodialbail, Mangaluru. The event was inaugurated by Dr. K V Rajendra IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada District. KCCI President Shri Isaac Vas attended the event. Also was present Shri Ashith Hegde, Director KCCI and also Head of Information Technology (IT) Sub-committee under Industrial Cell of KCCI who gave his presentation on IT opportunities in the district at the event. Several other Directors of KCCI were also present in the event.

Shri Trilok Kothari, Divisional Railway Manager, Southern Railway, Palakkad Division, Ministry of Railways, Govt. of India invited Shri Mytreya A, Chief Operating Officer KCCI to inform about using of railways by the industrial members of KCCI for transporting their products to various locations across India. Also present in the meeting were Shri Jerin, Senior DCM, Palakkad division and Shri Shivaraj S. Managiri, Area Officer / CEO Southern Railway – Mangalore. Shri Mytreya A was taken around their transport facilities in Mangaluru Central Railway Station and also at Panambur goods yard.
28-09-2021 10.00 a. m. Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) organized Stakeholders’ workshop in Hydro-Meteorological Resilience Action Plan (HmRAP) at Mangala Sabhangana, MCC office, Mangaluru. MCC Commissioner Shri Akshy Shridhar gave his opening remarks. Shri Ramesh Raina, Consultant, Institutional Assessment Expert addressed the gathering with his presentation on the subject. Members participated in the AGM through two-way Video Conferencing (VC) facility / Other Audio Visual Means (OAVM). Outgoing President Shri Isaac Vas addressed the members through virtual platform.

Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) Nitte, organized, under the slogan ‘Kaun Banega Udyampati’, Round Table Discussion on Promotion of Start-ups in Karavali Region – Challenges and Solutions in collaboration with Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Karnataka Bank at the Meeting Hall of KCCI. KCCI President Shri Shashidhar Pai Maroor presented the welcome address. Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. A.P. Achar, CEO, AIC Nitte Incubation Centre. The speakers for the discussion were Smt. Interactive meeting was jointly organized by Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), Canara Plastic Manufacturers and Traders Association (CPMTA) and Kanara Industries Association (KIA) with the senior officers from Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals (DCPC) Govt. of India on visiting the proposed site for setting up of Mangalore Plastic Park at Ganjimutt. COASTAL VISION GROUP constituted by Govt. of Karnataka after its first virtual meeting on May 10, 2021 has been holding meetings on alternate Mondays. Karnataka Udyoga Mitra (KUM) officials participated in the initial two meetings. Tourism, Fisheries, Maritime, Cashew development sub-committees are formed. Shri Isaac Vas, President, KCCI, Shri Nandagopal Shenoy, Director, KCCI, Capt. J.P. Menezes, Past President, KCCI, Smt. Vathika Pai, Past President KCCI, Shri Ullas Kamath, Chairman, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Karnataka, Shri Ashwin Srirangraj, FICCI were present. Shri Prakash Rao Kalbavi, Chairperson of the Customs, Exporters and CHA Relationship of the EXIM cell of KCCI and rest of the members of the group actively participated in providing valuable suggestions and presentations for final document of COASTAL VISION 2030 to be presented to Govt. of Karnataka by August,2021.

Mangaluru Smart City Limited held its 12th City Level Advisory Committee Meeting at the Deputy Commissioner office, Mangalore. The meeting was chaired by Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada District. KCCI was represented by its Vice President Shri Shashidhar Pai Maroor. Others present in the meeting were Mangaluru City South MLA Shri D Vedavyas Kamath, Mangaluru City North MLA Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty, Deputy Commissioner of Mangaluru Dr. Rajendra K.V., IAS, Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Shri Akshy Sridhar, Managing Director of Mangaluru Smart City Limited, Shri Prashant Kumar Mishra IAS, Traffic Assistant Commissioner, Shri M A Natraj.
15-07-2021 10.30 a. m. KCCI President Shri Isaac Vas inaugurated the new South Indian Bank Surathkal branch at Surathkal.
16-07-2021 KCCI President Shri Isaac Vas attended the meeting with Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Shri Akshay Shridhar on Self Assessment Scheme (SAS) for Industries which are located in KIADB area.
17-07-2021 KCCI President Shri Isaac Vas and Director and Chairperson of Information Technology of Industrial Cell of KCCI Shri Ashith Hegde had a meeting with MLA of Mangaluru City North Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty on the status of the IT park on KEIONICS land at Derabail Mangalore.

“The Business and community of Industrialists of Mangaluru should feel ownership of various institutions like New Mangalore Port, Airport which their forefathers had worked so hard to establish. This will spearhead the growth of this region by leaps and bounds.” said Shri Bhaskar Rao IPS addressing an interactive session of the members of the Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mangaluru, at Hotel Ocean Pearl Mangaluru on 10th June 2021.  

The Additional Director General of Police for Railways and Former Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City applauded Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry for taking an active role in the development of the region including its active push for establishing an IT Park in Mangalore. He advised the gathering that Mangaluru being part of the coastal region needs to develop the entire coastal region from Karwar to Mangaluru. He informed that the KCCI should produce leaders to be role models to Bengaluru and the rest of the country by its visionary leadership towards the development of the region and the country. The last known pandemic that hit the world in the 1920s led to revolutionary changes in the way of life of people. Hence, we should take positive things from the current pandemic to achieve greater heights in business and trade, he added.

The Commissioner of Police, Shri N. Shashi Kumar also addressed the members. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shri Hariram Shankar, Chairman of International Affairs & CSR Committee of Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), Bengaluru Dr. V.G Kiran Kumar was also present. 

Earlier The Vice President of KCCI, Shri Shashidhar Pai Maroor welcomed and introduced the Chief Guest Shri Bhaskar Rao, IPS. The Vice President appraised the members present about innovative ways of handling assignments by Shri Bhaskar Rao and his achievements along with social causes taken by him. The Hon. Treasurer of KCCI Shri Ganesh Kamath delivered the vote of thanks. The interaction was conducted following the requisite Covid protocol.

COVID19 Relief – Contribution towards the installation of Oxygen Generation plant at Lady Goshen Hospital, Mangaluru

KCCI President Shri Isaac Vas hands over the cheque of Rs. 7.50 lakh drawn in favour of Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada District, at D.C office, Mangaluru on 13th May 2021 from the KCCI President’s Fund. This contribution is towards Contribution for installation of Oxygen Generation Plant at Lady Goschen Government Hospital, Mangaluru. The cheque was handed to Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel, M.P, Dakshina Kannada. Vice President Shri Shashidhar Pai Maroor was also present at the event.

Charitable Trusts – Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi through Ishwarambha Trust and Rotary Club of Mangalore presented the cheques totalling Rs. 7 lakh to the Deputy Commissioner Dr. K. V. Rajendra at D.C office, Mangaluru on 14th May 2021. KCCI had facilitated the same. President Shri Isaac Vas, Past President Shri Srinivas Kamath , Shri M. Padmanabha Pai, Chairman, Ishwarambha Trust and Rtn. Archibald Menezes, President,Rotary Club of Mangalore were present.

Our affiliated body D.K. Automobile & Tyre Dealers’ Association presented the cheque of Rs. 1 lakh to the Deputy Commissioner Dr. K. V. Rajendra at D.C office,Mangaluru on 25th May 2021. KCCI had facilitated the same. KCCI Vice President and Treasurer of D.K. Automobile & Tyre Dealers’ Association Shri Shashidhar Pai Maroor, President of D.K. Automobile & Tyre Dealers’ Association Shri Kasturi Prabhakar Pai, Secretary of D.K. Automobile & Tyre Dealers’ Association Shri K Vilas Kumar were present.

Further, Sundaram Motors and other well-wishers including non-members have contributed to this cause through KCCI.
