The Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Mangaluru, has submitted a memorandum to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri D. K. Shivakumar, seeking Government intervention on key issues affecting industrial development, infrastructure and trade in Dakshina Kannada.
The memorandum highlights the long-pending Balkunje industrial land acquisition, involving approximately 1,050 acres in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, and seeks expediting the process to support MSME development.
KCCI has also sought the reclamation and reallocation of around 400 acres of JESCO land and 50 acres of KISCO land, which have remained unutilized for over three decades, for MSME and industrial purposes.
For the Baikampady Industrial Area, KCCI has urged improvements to drainage, water treatment, power infrastructure and roads, including urgent repairs to the ODC Road.
The memorandum also proposes an Integrated/Multi-Modal Logistics Park in Mangaluru, leveraging the city’s sea, air and road connectivity, along with a Mangaluru International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) to promote trade fairs and business exhibitions.
KCCI has requested the Government’s timely intervention and support to strengthen the industrial and commercial ecosystem of Dakshina Kannada and the wider coastal region.
